Showcase Art London Christmas Fair
November 1, 2014
I will be taking part in Art Showcase London Christmas Fair which takes place from noon-6pm on Saturday November 29 at 125-127 Bethnal Green Road (at the junction with Brick Lane), Bethnal Green, London E2 6DG. The nearest station is Shoreditch. I have been busy painting smaller canvases especially for this event. They are still in the same vein – City Lights (above), City Nights – but also include my new Breakthrough series. Please come along and say 'hello' on the day.
Making a Breakthrough
November 1, 2014
My new series, Breakthrough, has been, er, a bit of a breakthrough! I was experimenting with a different sort of take on City Lights which was going to involve a dark background. However, having prepared a small canvas and got the background on, I thought it had potential as it was. So I set about expanding the idea on a much larger canvas and Breakthrough 1, above, was born! I was then curious to see if the idea would work on smaller canvases and am pleased to say that it does: see Breakthroughs 3, 4 and 5 below. (In case you were thinking that I'd lost track of the numbering, Breakthrough 2 was a private commission.)
Many people who have already seen Breakthrough 1 have said how it evokes different feelings and thoughts: a breakthrough in emotions or a breakthrough of an idea. For me, it represents seeing a way out of a situation despite encountering many obstacles and difficulties.
Beyond White Walls
November 7, 2014
November 6th saw the Private View evening of Gallery Argentum's Beyond White Walls Exhibition. It was a very successful event with more than 200 people in attendance, many of whom commended me on my work.
It was interesting to be able to stand at some distance from my City Nights 1 painting and see that it has impact even from some 50 or so feet away.
A busy November in Lisbon and London
October 26, 2014
November promises to be a very exciting month as I am exhibiting in Lisbon, Portugal and central London.
Saturday November 1 sees the opening of an exhibition of eight of my paintings at Colorida Gallery in the picturesque and historic Castelo de Sao Jorge area of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. The exhibition itself will run until November 14 but several of my works will remain on display until January next year.
And on Thursday November 8, Gallery Argentum is staging its first London exhibition – Beyond White Walls – at the High Holborn showrooms of KI Europe, part of one of the world’s largest furniture and accessory suppliers to the international architect and interior designer community, with my City Nights 1 being one of the featured artworks on display.
I nearly managed to make it a November hat-trick with an invitation to exhibit at Edinburgh Art Festival in the Scottish capital. Unfortunately, I had to turn it down on this occasion because of preparations for Lisbon and London but I would like to exhibit there next year if possible.
On a slightly different note, I am going to be the subject of a multi-page feature in the next edition of leading online creative arts magazine Niji –nijimagazine.com
A Room of My Own
Very exciting - I now have my own studio to work from! Up until now, I'd commandeered the dining room to use as my work-space. But now I have a purpose-built studio in the garden so won't have to worry about splashes of paint on the carpet!
The building was erected during the hottest days of the summer which probably didn't make me very popular with the builders. But it all got put together eventually and has electricity and a water supply - all mod cons! I have now taken up residence and can paint to my heart's content with Radio 4 to keep me company. I'm considering offering some informal classes at some point next year now that I have the space.

Window of opportunity
June 15, 2014
I am very much looking forward to having several of my paintings on display at Picture Corner Gallery in Ampthill, Beds. On this occasion, they will make up the window display at the Gallery which is in a very prominent position.
The Exhibition will continue until the end of July.
Breathe was a breeze
May 7, 2014
May 7 saw the first exhibition held by Whitepeaks Fine Art since relocating to London. The Breathe exhibition was held at The Electricians Shop just 50 yards or so from the gallery, in Trinity Buoy Wharf, London E14.
The exhibition showcased the work of many international artists as well as those of us from the UK – of whom I am one! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting some interesting artists from around the world and learned a lot from them.
I am pleased my City Lights paintings attracted lots of favourable attention and positive comments.
Fantastic day at CO3 Gallery launch
April 26, 2014
Saturday April 26 saw the launch of CO3 Gallery in Colchester. Directors Angella Horner and Giuseppe D'Anna have created a unique space in which to view, appreciate and buy art.
The launch was attended by hundreds of art lovers, collectors and many of the artists whose work is on display – including myself.
Harvey Nicks' invitation
April 18, 2014
I have been personally invited by the general
manager of Harvey Nichols (one of the best-known stores in the world) in Knightsbridge, London to display some of my work in its Fifth Floor Restaurant. We are still sorting out the details, but it is a fantastic opportunity. The story hit the local press (above), even if they rather jumped the gun with the headline. Maybe they were as excited as me!
Out of the Blue
April 6, 2014
I have completed my latest Brainstorm painting, which I am entitling Out of the Blue. I have entered it in the Broadway Arts Festival's open art competition, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

My original paintings and prints are available from Whitepeaks and some will be on show at their forthcoming exhibition, Breathe, to be held on Wednesday May 7 and Thursday May 8 at Electricians Warehouse, next door to the gallery.

More City Lights
March 12, 2014
I have painted two more paintings for my City Lights collection, City Lights 15 and 16 below. I have had a lot of positive feedback on the City Lights theme, and I feel it has a lot of potential for expansion and moving into slightly different directions. I will keep you posted!

Return to the City
January 25, 2014
After the considerable amount of attention my City Lights collection received as a result of their showing at the Lights In The Winter exhibition at La Galleria Pall Mall, London in December last year, I have decided to return to the City Lights theme to extend the collection and push the 'city limit' boundaries – no planning permission required! City Lights 14, above is the first of the new batch.
